Detox Season

Fall Season is the best season to Detox the body, therefore the mind. Mother Earth has set it up that the foods produced during this beautiful season will detox the body and actually 'pull' out the heat/toxins/acidity in the body organs, built up from the summer heat.
So, eat more leafy greens, berries, apples, pumpkin....Eat all things that are seasonal right now. Mother Earth was sweet enough to provide food on our land that provides our nutrients that our bodies need for each season.
For example, the bitter and astringent qualities of the leafy greens, berries, apples, pumpkins during the Fall help pull out the heat built up from the summer, as well as preparing our bodies for the Winter months.

Eat consciously and with grace. Don't overindulge. Keep away from foods with high fructose syrup and simple sugars, which put on excess weight and is in EVERYTHING we eat, pretty much. Stick to a more vegetarian/vegan diet where meats are hard to digest and usually gets stored as fat. Pray over your food to give thanks.

Lesson on Sugar:
Simple carbohydrates or simple sugars - These carbs are broken down and digested very quickly, but most simple carbs contain refined sugars and very few essential vitamins and minerals. Examples include table sugar, fruit juice, milk, yogurt, honey, molasses, maple syrup and brown sugar.

Complex carbohydrates - the complex carbs take longer to digest and are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Examples include vegetables, whole grain breads, oatmeal, legumes, brown rice and wheat pasta.

Eat and Be Healthy

Ayurveda follows the great law of nature called in homeopathy the "Law of Similitude", Like Increases Like !!
A very simple concept if you think about it. For example, now it is hot in the summer in most places of the world. So, if the temperature is hot outside, then you should be eating cooling foods that cool down your core body temperature and emotions, to prevent too much acidity/toxicity to build up in your blood and organs, as well as keeping your emotions cooled down.

Ayurveda is based on the laws of Mother Earth. She has produced certain foods during 3 seasons (Fall/Winter, Spring and Summer) to nurture, nourish, and detoxify the body/mind. For example, during the Summer season, the foods that are produced are cooling, to counterbalance the heating effects of the hot Sun. Therefore, we should be eating more cooling foods like sweet, astringent and bitter foods. Some examples are cranberries, beans, broccoli, juicy fruits, and dark leafy greens

Stay away from salty, sour and pungent (spicy) foods because they are too heating in the summer and are better for the Fall/Winter to warm us up.
Many countries still follow the laws of nature, still eat off the land and they don't have the health issues that the we have in the West.

Same with animals that live in the wild (non-domesticated). They eat off the land which each season has produced and follow the laws of nature therefore they don't develop the diseases that humans do. They follow their innate instincts and senses which the human mind has moved away from. Because of the misuse of our "intelligent" minds and senses, we have put our health in dangers way. We do this by combining foods that are not compatible, eating food that are not seasonal, overeating, eating 5 meals a day instead of 3, snacking all day, and not exercising for optimal health.

All this information is in our minds instinctually but we choose not to follow it. For some, it takes too much work and we are programmed a certain way on how to nourish and nurture ourselves, which has been proven not to be the most effective way to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Moving forward, tap into ways that will enhance your daily life. It's all up to you, for you !!

Unconditional Love or Just Love?

Do you truly believe there is such a phenomenon as "unconditional love"? In the human experience, are we capable of loving another human being, without conditions?
If this is possible, how can we unconditionally love another person? If you get into an argument/fight with that person,  it may result in detachment, broken hearts or that person may even get so angry/enraged at a particular situation, that they may even kill.

This is deep rooted question that maybe you never thought about or even struggle with.
My personal belief system is that we can have short spurts of experiencing unconditional love, but most of our loving relationships are conditional.

Unconditional loving relationships we form:
1. Our relationship with GOD-Our relationship with the Almighty is unconditional because it is our most sacred connection and doesn't involve another human being. It is based on faith.

2. A child, before the age of 5 years old- Children before the age of 5 are totally dependent on others for shelter,  nurturing, nourishing and overall survival. At about age 5, the child understands the self and the mind/ego starts taking over the heart of the child, allowing the child to set their own boundaries between them and most commonly their parents. Thereby, forming conditions on their experiences with others.

3. Animals- We form loving relationships with our pets. They are totally dependent spirit-souls that need us humans for mostly everything, similar to the needs of a small infant/child. The difference is that animals do not have the use of 'discrimination' and the misuse of the ego to cause suffering, so all they know how to do is Love. For the most part, animals will come back to you for love, even if not treated well.

So, in loving relationships in the human dynamic, there always has to be this dichotomy between attachment and detachment with our loving relationships, so we shouldn't fully immerse ourselves 'unconditional' loving relationships which eventually cause possible codependency, control, suffering through attachment and even detachment from the other person.

Just Love as much as possible and let your big heart lead the way.....No expectations except giving and receiving Love !! Enjoy the ride.....

PRAISE THE LORD

Prayer and meditation should be an integral part of your daily, sacred life.
It helps tap into your spiritual body and accept something greater than yourself. This is a very humbling experience to know that we are not in charge of our lives but that GOD is. It does not let us off the hook to take responsibility for our actions and reactions but it engages our hearts into our higher states of being/consciousness.

GOD is called many things: Krishna, Allah, Spirit, Jesus, Elohim, Brahma, Lord, Higher Power....
Whatever your spiritual consciousness feels that GOD is to you and if it feeds your heart, then plug into that connection and energy. It is a vital part of our lives to feed our spiritual bodies because it is pure. We are so 'programmed' to feed our physical and emotional bodies but rarely have a spiritual connection to something outside of ourselves.

Prayer/meditation helps take us out of our physical body and nurture our spiritual body. It shuts off the ego/mind which always tries to gain control of how we make decisions. If our innate spiritual nature was at least partly in control of our decision making in life, could you imagine how much happier we would be?

Prayer/meditation can be done anytime of the day, all day, any day, throughout the day, morning or night, eyes open or closed and better done if in a quiet space. It is your special connection with God and no one can take that away from you.
Reflect on how you can incorporate prayer/meditation into your sacred life daily. Pay attention to your breathing during prayer/meditation and how your body is feeling. Many thoughts and reactions will come up for you that may need to be released. Do not fear these feelings. They have been there for a long time and one of the major gifts of prayer/meditation is that toxicity and pain get released during the process. It cleanses the soul and sets you on the path to a higher consciousness.

It is never to late to start praying or meditating. Just stay away from 'bargaining' with GOD, asking Him for things that you want or need. GOD is all merciful, all loving, all forgiving, all compassionate,  omnipresent (everywhere),  omniscient (infinite awareness) and omnipotent (all powerful, unlimited authority) !!
Be at Peace as you let GOD into your sacred life.

Love Thy Self

Self Body Massage is a way to Love Thy Self.
Abyanga (Self Body Massage) is is an incredible part of the  Ayurvedic daily routine that involves applying oil to the entire body, acting as a powerful recharger and rejuvenator of the mind, body, and soul. Self Body Massage is even more powerful than that !! It is an act of self love to massage oil to the skin, our largest breathing lymphatic organ. It feels great and it is a sacred self anointing of the self !!

The benefits of self body massage:

·      Improves skin complexion by making the skin glow and prevents dry and rough skin, promotes better skin texture and tone, soothes any skin afflictions, such as dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis.
·      Improves circulation, especially of the blood and nerve endings.
·      Improves physical strength and stamina.
·      Improves muscle strength and tone,
·      Improves the nervous system by calming the nerves, thereby preventing nervous disorders.
·      Increases mental alertness and calms the mind to prevent anger.
·      Improves digestion and relieves constipation.
·      Lubrication of the joints.
·      Improves elimination and detoxification of impurities from the body.
·      Promotes a deeper sleep and best of all prevents the aging process.

Self Body Massage increases the flow of lymph (immune system) in the body, which is very important for it's circulation being that the lymph system doesn't have a 'pumping mechanism', compared to the arteries and veins, in the circulatory system. This is why lymph nodes are located in the creases of the body like the neck, armpits and groin. Only through exercise (anaerobic or aerobic), does lymph get pumped efficiently throughout the body to release endorphins and hormones.

Coconut oil is a great oil to use in the summer because it has cooling properties to combat the heat of the summer and cool the core body temperature down when it is really hot outside.

How to Apply: After the shower, apply the oil in a circular motion with an open palm, starting at the scalp and working your way down to the toes. Make it a daily, sacred experience and part of your meditation.

Embrace the journey of the self and pay attention to what this ancient  sacred technique brings up for you !!!

Eat With Grace

Eating is a graceful experience, is in not?
Food is feeding more than just our physical bodies. Food feeds our mind and our spiritual bodies, once you tap into what you are eating, the time of day you are eating, who you are eating it with, and how it is being prepared and by who.
For instance, if food is being prepared by angry people in a restaurant kitchen, then you will be likely to absorb that toxic energy into your minds/bodies, which will effect you on many levels. It might not taste so good or make you feel agitated during the meal.
So, if you eat out a lot, which many people do in the West, then try praying/meditating over your food or do some energy work over your food to release that toxic energy attached to it.
Take time to prepare your food at home, sit and sink into the experience of thinking that food is nurturing and nourishing you on all levels. Make it a daily effort to making eating a sacred experience. Think about how much more gratifying it is when your mother or grandmother spend hours putting all their effort and love preparing a meal for the family. Much more satisfying and nourishing :)

Food is a gift, necessity and Earth's medicine. It is needed for survival but you need to change your conception and consciousness around what you are eating and what the sacrifices have been made to have feed become an integral part of your daily intake and growth. Once you see or realize the scarcity of food in some places in the US and abroad, you may better understand that eating food is not a luxury, but a gift.

Mother Earth has prepared food on Her land to give us what we need, nutritionally. There are different foods grown during different seasons, to nourish and detox our bodies/minds.
Fall Season: Sweet, Sour and Salty foods/tastes are prevalent.
Spring Season: Astringent, Bitter and Pungent foods. Summer Season: Sweet, Astringent and Bitter foods.
Mother Earth has everything down to a science, following the natural biorhythms of creation and destruction.

So, it is imperative to understand how food effects your particular body/mind. Supersize is something of the past, overindulgence is something of the past, improper food combining is toxic and can have health repercussions.

The Western Diet is 80% Acidic/20% Alkaline which is why the West (esp. the US) has the highest disease rates in the developed world. Looking at diets of other countries, their diets are 20% Alkaline/80% Acidic and their rates of physical/mental diseases are no where at the stage that ours is.

Be conscious at all times of what you are bringing into your 'Sacred Temple'. Eat what you know is good for you and don't overindulge !! Make it a sacred experience and eat in silence, as best you can.
